My name is Chelsey Derderian-LeBlang and I am a neuroscientist specializing in translational studies of neurodegeneration in the central and peripheral nervous systems.  My expertise lie in generating iPSC derived models and using biochemical and advanced imaging techniques to  understand molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disease. I am passionate about neuroimmunology, and how immune system dysfunction can contribute to the pathogenesis of disease. I defended my dissertation investigating the role of pathologic stress granules in neuroinflammation and the pathogenesis of tauopathy in 2020, earning my PhD in Anatomy & Neurobiology at Boston University School of Medicine. Currently, I am a senior postdoctoral research fellow in the department of Cancer Biology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the department of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School (HMS). I have completed a T32 fellowship  in Cancer Chemical Biology and Metabolism  research fellowship under the mentorship of Rosalind Segal, MD/PhD,  studying molecular mechanisms of axonal degeneration in Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy.  I plan to continue my studies in chemotherapy related toxicity, studying glial contribution to degeneration in the CNS and PNS.
